In fall of 2019 I had the opportunity to design a two day workshop surrounding the exhibition DesignInquiry: Futurespective at the Institute of Contemporary Art in Portland, Maine for a group of art students from Scarborough, High School.

Collaborative Inquiry
One of my key goals for this workshop was to develop an environment in which students were comfortable working together to develop innovative ideas about art and design. All aspects of the workshop involved teamwork, from collaborative brainstorming sessions about how to design a better drawing tool to prototyping sessions in small groups.
Design Thinking
Students worked through the iterative framework of design thinking as they worked towards creating prototypes of innovative drawing tools. The six steps of design thinking (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, test, implement) were integrated throughout instruction, visuals and the environment.
